Kymata developed and supplied optical components for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) transmission applications.

The business was based on IP from the University of Glasgow and University of Southampton and the Kymata team delivered planar silicon technology for high-end passive optical network components.

Kymata was acquired by Alcatel (NYSE:ALU)

ACT Venture Capital was an early stage investor in Kymata and participated in funding rounds with co-investors 3i, Kleiner Perkins, Bowman Capital and Telesoft.
