Alphamosaic, a semiconductor company based in Cambridge specialised in low power mobile multimedia processors, based on their VideCore architecture. Alphamosaic was spun out from Cambridge Consultants.
The technology cantered round a novel for low-power processing of video and images. It was used in consumer devices including phones from Samsung and Apple Alphamosaic was acquired by Broadcom forming its Mobile Multimedia group in Cambridge.
ACT Venture Capital was the early stage and lead investor in Alphamosaic with co-investors Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures, Prelude Trust and TTP Ventures.
